School information for the Summer Term
Dear Parents and Carers
With two weeks of our summer term already behind us, the term and the year is racing. The children have shown some of their best work over the first two weeks of the summer term and we have shared so many successes in our assemblies already – it bodes very well for more success and achievements throughout this busy term.
Many of you will know how hard our cohort of Year 6 children are working as they prepare for their national curriculum tests. They take place from 9th-12th May and we have been incredibly proud of their approach to their learning in recent weeks - not only in lessons, but in their additional learning sessions at the beginning or the end of the day. A huge thank you to all of the staff who have given up their time to mentor, coach and tutor the children.
We are really hoping for good weather on Friday 5th May so that our whole school picnic can go ahead to celebrate King Charles III’s coronation. Should the weather not be good enough on the day, we will notify all parents and carers by Parentmail.
Staff News
We have welcomed two new Teaching Assistants to Kingsham who have joined us until the end of the year. Miss Bullard and Mrs Bailey have settled in very quickly to the Kingsham family and are providing excellent support to the children they are working with.
Unfortunately, we will be saying goodbye to Mrs Jacqui Whall on Friday 5th May. After over 6 years with the school, she is taking up an opportunity at a federated school in Hampshire. It is impossible to underestimate the impact that Jacqui Whall has had on the school. She has steered the school’s finances through some particularly challenging times. Her passion for the school and making it a safe and exciting environment for the children to learn in has driven so many significant improvements to the school site for which we are all extremely thankful.
We will welcome Michelle Rankin as our new Finance and HR Officer on 22nd May.
Safeguarding Reminder
Should you have any safeguarding concerns regarding any of the children at the school our designated safeguarding leaders (DSL) are Mr Williams and Mr Dallinger. Both Mr Williams and I work closely with our safeguarding governor who is Mr Mark Oliver. Should you wish to contact any of these people you can do so by contacting the office who will happily direct you.
Reading
We are edging closer to our school target from last year to read over 101 million words!! We are currently up to 72 580 855 words.
Last term, we celebrated a huge number of children meeting their own personal targets. Thank you to all of our families who have supported their children’s reading by:
Please encourage your children to do this 5 times a week- the improvements we see are enormous when this happens!
Maths
Thank you to all the parents and carers for their time and energy in supporting the children at home with their Maths. We have had lots of children achieve their number bond and times table bands in the first two weeks of term. Please keep this effort up so that we can build on our children’s fluency with their number bonds and times tables.
Fundraising for Comic Relief
A huge thank you to all of our families who donated either online or in cash on the day. We raised a total of £221.70 for Comic Relief.
Important Dates for Summer Term 2023
With my very best wishes for the Summer Term ahead.
