Please have a look at a fabulous term and see our key dates for the rest of the term
Dear Parents and Carers
Over half way through the Autumn Term and the children continue to take a step up in their learning this year. Children are working very well in their classes and so many children have earned number bond and times table bands this half term. We always celebrate the children’s achievements in our assemblies on Monday morning and it has been noticeable how many children have produced exceptional work across the curriculum. Thank you for all of your support in making this happen.
Please don’t forget that Friday 17th November is an INSET day. A full list of our term dates can be found by clicking here.
Crown Values
During our Monday assemblies, the adults in each class nominate children to receive a Crown learning certificate if they have demonstrated the CROWN learning values of Kingsham. They are:
C – Curiosity
R – Resilience
O – Open Mindedness
W – Wow-improver
N – No Limits
Please speak to your children about their achievements when they bring home their Crown Learning Certificate – it is a great achievement!
Speaking and Listening
Thank you for your support in encouraging your children with their speaking and listening and particularly to not use mobile phones at pick-up and drop off.
Don’t forget to look out for our questions on Instagram, Facebook and X throughout the year. We want to support you to ask your children about the day that they have had to provoke as much quality talk from your children as possible.
Yellow Photos
The closing date for Yellow Photos orders is today – Tuesday 7th November.
Children in Need
We will be supporting Children in Need again this year. On Thursday 16th November we will be having a non-uniform day where will be encouraging children to wear their spots and their Pudsey ears. To donate to Children in Need to support our fundraising, please donate here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/lee-dallinger-1698925098248?newPage=true
This is the only way to donate via the school this year as we will not be collecting cash on the gate.
Christmas Jumpers and donations for the Christmas Fayre
In order to encourage recycling and to save families some money at Christmas, we are asking families to bring in their unwanted Christmas jumpers on Friday 1st December. The PTA will then sort them all into sizes so that they can be bought at the Christmas Fayre on the 4th December - in time for our Christmas jumper day on 8th December. Far better for the environment and all of the money raised will go to the PTA to fundraise for reading books for the school!
We will also be asking for bottle donations or for you to fill a cup on Friday 1st December ready for the Christmas Fayre.
Arbor
Thank you for engaging with Arbor for lots of the functions we carry out at school. We are doing our best to reduce the number of letters that we send home on paper, so to be able to record your consent electronically is extremely helpful. Equally, asking you to pay for trips and opportunities via the Arbor app makes our accounting so much cleaner at school and hopefully allows you to make the payments hassle-free.
We now have 95% of parents who have logged on and are using it. If it is causing you any problems, please contact the office so that we can support you with it.
Junior Mayor for the Day
Kingsham Primary School was delighted to nominate three of our incredible pupils to represent the community as the Junior Mayor and Councillors for the day on 11th October 2023. These young, future leaders - Savanna, Ethan and Mia – stepped into the shoes of the city's Junior Mayor and Councillors and were accompanied by the Mayor of Chichester, Mr Craig Gershater, and the Mayoress, Mrs Judy Gershater.
For the day, all three pupils had the unique opportunity to take on the role and responsibilities that usually belong to an elected official. It gave them a chance to see first-hand how a city is run, to understand the challenges and opportunities it presents, and to influence decisions that affect their lives. The Junior Mayor, Mia, was delighted to be nominated alongside her fellow peers; she said: “This was a fantastic learning opportunity. Altogether, it was a truly amazing day and the mayor and mayoress were lovely people.”
