Could you be our Library Volunteer?

Help us make our library the best resource possible for the children

As I am sure you will know, Reading has a high priority at our school. We are extremely fortunate to have a well-resourced library which the children and staff really value. It is used every day, from mornings to afternoons. We are looking for someone to support us in maintaining the environment so that the children continue to have a library space to be proud of.

Your role as a school library volunteer would involve:

  • supporting the school librarian and pupil librarians to deliver and maintain an effective, accessible and welcoming school library collection
  • working together with school staff (and providing support) to make the library integral to the whole school.
  • helping and supporting children to use the library
  • helping children to locate, borrow and return books
  • using a computerised Library Management System (Libresoft) to issue and discharge library items
  • shelving books and tidying the library
  • book repairs, jacketing and general stock maintenance
  • general library routines

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  DBS at Enhanced level will be required prior to work commencing as a volunteer.

If you feel that this is a role that you would enjoy and you would like to be our library volunteer, please contact the school to speak to Miss Kyriakides and Mrs Rose - 01243 784046 or email office@kingshamprimary.org.uk
