Reflections of a wonderful Spring Term

Dear Parents and Carers

We find ourselves at the end of a hugely successful and productive term. Whether we look back on the achievements of the children across the term, the hard work and dedication of our staff and governors or the feedback we have received from a range of visitors, this term has been an enormous success.

I would like to thank the large number of parents and carers who have been so generous in supporting the school in so many ways and giving me so much positive feedback about their children’s experiences this term. It is so appreciated and goes to show that we are all a team in ensuring the very best for all of our children.

We have included some key dates for next term at the end of the newsletter. We hope the children have a wonderful Easter break – we have also attached some clubs and events that maybe of interest to you at the bottom of the newsletter.

Attendance

It has been a difficult time for the school with regards to illness and sickness and we understand that if your child is not well enough they cannot attend school. This is all the more reason to ensure 100% attendance during the rest of the year and we would really appreciate your support with this.

Your child’s attendance is written on their mid-year report so that you are well informed of their attendance. If the attendance rate is 90% - this is an average of ½ a day a week of missed school. An attendance rate of 80% is an average of 1 day a week of missed school. When a child misses school, they miss vital learning and they can feel uncomfortable when the learning is based on new learning that they have missed.

Please support the attendance of your children as we aim for 96% attendance or more for all children.

Parent/Carer Consultations

A huge thank you to everyone who attended a parent/carer consultation appointment this half term. We had record numbers of appointments and it was a joy to watch you and your children sharing in the progress that your children have made. We know how motivating this is to children to be able to share their successes with their parents/carers.

If you did not manage to attend your appointment, please contact your child’s class teacher and they will be happy to arrange an appointment after school, either in person or over the phone.

As always, the final consultation appointments will be an opportunity for your child to share their key successes and achievements from the year with you and for you to discuss the end of year report with your child’s teacher.

Comic Relief

We had so much fun listening to the jokes that the children had prepared for Comic Relief on Friday. There was such a lovely feel around the school and some laughing adults – I even saw Mr Crispin laugh!!

So far we have raised just over £350. If you have not yet managed to donate, please join the 44 others who have donated through our page here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/lee-dallinger-1708597578603

Summer Circus at Kingsham

As I am sure you have seen from the emails and the webposts, the circus is returning to Kingsham Primary School on 17th July 2024. Tickets are available now... to purchase, simply go to Arbor and click on 'Trips' and then Kingsham Circus.

Well done to Toby in Ash class and Sofia in Birch class for their winning poster designs…

Sporting Achievements

From Dance House to friendly football matches and from the Corporate Challenge to friendly dodgeball matches, Kingsham Primary School have done extremely well with regards to their sporting achievements.

The children performed beautifully at Dance House at the end of February. The staff, parents and carers who were in the audience were delighted by Kingsham’s energy and enthusiasm. Year 6 boys and girls teams and Year 3/4 team all beat St Richard’s in football friendlies.

The boys team finished second overall in the Corporate Challenge with Nathaniel who won each of the year 5 boy’s races and Theo who finished 4th overall. A fantastic achievement by both of them. The girl’s team finished 10th overall. It was a joy to see the smiles on the faces of our runners and the improvements that each of them made throughout the series. Thank you for representing the school so well.

School Trips

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us with a huge number of school trips over the last term. We simply could not run them all without the generous support from so many volunteers who give up their time to assist with all of the trips we run. We are enormously grateful to you all.
