Site Maintenance Assistant

Hours: Part-time, 20 hours per week – 7am to 11am (41 weeks per year)

Closing Date: Monday 22nd July by 12 noon.

Interview Date: Friday 26th July

Salary: £23,500 - £24,702 per annum. £11,471 - £12,058.27 pro-rata

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our wonderful community school for a Site Maintenance Assistant. We are looking for someone who is passionate about ensuring the school site is in the best condition possible for our children, families and staff.

As a school in The University of Chichester Academy Trust, you will have the support of other schools within the Trust and our Site Maintenance Co-ordinator.

We are looking for a flexible, reliable and enthusiastic team member to work within our busy school in this varied role. They should be someone who shares our commitment and enthusiasm to develop the best possible provision for our children and staff.

The successful candidate will be the first port of call when it comes to the safe and secure running of the school site, responding to the needs that may arise from school staff on a daily basis. You will work closely with the site maintenance co-ordinator, ensuring a smooth handover after your shift while working closely together on larger projects around the school site.

Candidates should be able to work closely with a strong, collaborative team of colleagues and have a desire to ensure the school premises are able to support the high standards we want the children to achieve across the curriculum and in their play.

You will be expected to:

  • Open the premises every morning at 7am
  • Ensure the building and site is safe and secure at all time for our school community
  • Support with undertaking repairs and maintenance to improve the appearance and safety of the buildings and grounds
  • Oversee on-site maintenance contractors, ensuring the safeguarding of our children is the number one priority and ensure the work is carried out in line with health and safety regulations, school policy, and that work is completed to the required specification and standards within the timescale set-out in the contract
  • Maintain accurate health and safety records in accordance with academy and regulatory procedures
  • Prepare rooms for use to include unlocking and opening rooms, re-arrange layout/furniture, equipment and additional furniture as requested.
