Kingsham Primary School will be participating in a range of activities, workshops and events during this week! We are proud to be supporting Place2Be who run a mental health charity.
Their aim is to shine a light on the importance of children and young people’s mental health.
This year’s theme is…
Human beings are intrinsically connected to each other, and human connection is vital for the wellbeing and survival of all individuals. People with positive connections to family, friends and others often experience better mental health than those who are less well-connected.
Overview of the week
Classes will participate in activities linked to this year’s theme. There will also be assemblies about Mental Health. Please talk to your child about these to raise the profile of mental health and wellbeing!
We will also post updates to useful websites and videos to share with your children over the week. One useful website has been developed by Place2Be to provide advice from experts.

At the end of the week on Friday 10th February, there will be a non-school uniform day where children can dress up in clothes that make them happy (for example, bright colours, a favourite outfit). We will accept donations on the school gate or via Parent Mail to help the school raise money for more equipment for use at break and lunchtimes.
Workshops
Pupils in Year 4 and 5 will have a workshop session around the 5 ways to wellbeing. Take a look about these 5 steps everyone can take to look after their own wellbeing:
Speak out. Stay safe.
Pupils in Year 5 and 6 will have a workshop session with NSPCC around staying safe (Speak Out. Stay Safe). Please see below for more information.
Speak out. Stay safe. is a safeguarding programme available to all primary schools in the UK and Channel Islands. It aims to help children understand abuse in all its forms and to recognise the signs of abuse in a child friendly way. Children are taught to speak out if they are worried, either to a trusted adult or Childline.
Messages are delivered in a fun and interactive way with the help of their mascot Buddy as well as special guest appearances from Ant and Dec. A specially trained NSPCC volunteer will also be delivering a workshop to pupils in Year 5 and 6 that will build-on and deepen pupils’ learning gained.
NSPCC have studied the content of the materials and are extremely confident that they are appropriate for primary-school-aged children. By the end of the programme, they are convinced children will feel empowered – knowing how they can speak out and stay safe.
If you would like to know more about the Speak out. Stay safe. programme you can find information on the NSPCC website: www.nspcc.org.uk/speakout
